The Police Department is staffed with 21 sworn police officers and 2 civilians. The department is made up of several divisions, which strive to keep Bardstown a safe and pleasant town to live and work in.

A multi-agency entity since 2007, we recieve and process emergency communications for over 50,000 residents in the 424 square miles of Nelson County. Our services cover areas from Bloomfield, Cox’s Creek, Chaplin, Fairfield, and Bardstown; to Boston, New Hope, New Haven, Balltown, Howardstown, Culvertown, and all points in between, as well neighboring counties.

Nelson County Emergency Management

The Emergency Management Agency (EMA), of Nelson County, serves as the first response to the potential catastrophic events that threaten our community. On a professional level, the preparation starts with extensive training and industry standard equipment. Our members are certified though the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) National Incident Management System (NIMS) training program.
